Aurora’s Most Dangerous Intersections

Aurora police released the list of intersections with the most traffic accidents so far this year.

Aurora police released the accident statistics showing the intersections with the most traffic crashes from Jan. 1 to June 30.

The most dangerous intersection was on N. Eola Road at Indian Trail and North Aurora Road with 32 crashes. Following in a close second were New York and Rt. 59, as well as Rt. 56 and Eola with 30 accidents each so far this year. Eola and New York had 27 accidents. Indian Trail and Lake, Galena and Smith and Montgomery & Rt. 59 each had 24. The intersections of McCoy and Rt. 59, and Eola and Liberty, each had 23 accidents. “Let’s be careful out there Aurora!” Aurora police said in a Facebook post.

Aurora Midweek Farmers Market Now Open

The Midweek Farmers Market is open Wednesdays through Sept. 27.  AURORA, IL — Aurora’s Midweek Farmers Market made its return this week. Located in the former Walmart parking lot at 2131 W. Galena Boulevard, the market is open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sept. 27. Offerings include more than 20 farm, food and artisan vendors with fresh fruits and vegetables, desserts and homemade gifts and art. Another farmers market in Aurora’s downtown is open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays through Oct. 21. The signature downtown market is located at the Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway Ave.

Aurora Ranked Among Best Run Cities in Nation

A recent online study ranked the city of Aurora as one of the Top 20 best run cities in America. In the study released Monday, Wallet Hub, an online financial website, had Aurora ranked at 20 out of 150 of the country’s largest cities. It is the second year in a row Aurora has cracked the Top 20 in the Wallet Hub survey, having been ranked at 18 in 2016.

“While today marks only my second month in office, for the past decade I have had the honor of serving on the Aurora City Council with dedicated public servants and working with stalwart city staff members who are all committed to doing what is best for Aurora,” said Mayor Richard Irvin. “We are very proud that our efforts are being recognized locally, regionally and nationally.” Continue reading

Park District works to create Ravinia experience in Aurora

Fox Valley Park District is working to bring a bit of the Ravinia experience to Aurora.

This summer, the district’s Blackberry Farm is holding a series of concerts called “Live and Uncorked.”

According to district officials, participants can bring lawn chairs, blankets, coolers, food and drinks — including beer and wine.

Admission is $5, and each show runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Upcoming shows include:

• Piano Man on July 6. This show is a tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel.

• Jamie Campbell & The Redneck Romeos on July 13. This six-piece group plays a variety of country music hits.

• Semple on July 20. Keith Semple and his band perform a variety of songs from the 1970s to today.

• Live & Uncorked: Trivia Edition on Aug. 3. Participants can take part in a trivia contest to win prizes.
