Electronics Recycle Free on October 27th

Aurora Residents Can Recycle Electronics for FREE on October 27. The city of Aurora, in partnership with Will County, is hosting a free Electronics Recycling Day on Saturday, October 27th from 9am to 1 pm at Bednarcik Junior High School, 3025 Heggs Road, Aurora.

All items are free to recycle, including televisions, but registration is required.

  • Due to high demand for service, the event is open to Aurora residents only. ID is required.
  • All residents MUST register for a time slot online or by calling 630-256-4636. Space is limited per hour.
  • Each car is limited to five (5) items in total, including two (2) total screens-either television or computer screen.
  • Only approved household items and electronics will be accepted.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection October 13th

Saturday, the Village of Oswego has been notified the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, in partnership with Fox Metro, will host a household hazardous waste recycling event from 8am to 3pm at 1000 Station Dr, near the intersection of Mill and Orchard Roads. The collection is open to all Illinois residents. Household hazardous waste items are materials purchased for cleaning or maintaining a home. Business waste is not accepted. Leland Legends may not have turned enough of a profit to keep its doors open the last couple of years, but the now-shuttered downtown Aurora restaurant has served up plenty of controversy lately, following Mayor Richard Irvin’s refusal to grant the would-be new operators a liquor license because of a pending violation at another of their establishments.

All of which is tied to even more unexpected news related to the eatery — this one far more positive and perhaps even a “game changer” for downtown Aurora.

Canterbury Park Update

Revisions and upgrades in line for OV Park –

Some of you have perhaps taken notice that the Fox Valley Park District has taken to renovations and upgrading what some of us refer to as “Canterbury Park” – located at the cornet of Canterbury and Deerfield. Contrary to some thoughts, the maintenance and upkeep of this “recreational facility” is – and has been – the responsibility of the Fox Valley Park District – not the OVHA.
