The Aurora Town Club, a vintage baseball team of Aurora Police Department officers, will play its season and home finale at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26.
Town Club will host the Milwaukee Juneaus at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2567 W. Sullivan Rd. in Aurora.
APD’s Lt. Paul Nelson is player-coach for Town Club. The public is invited. Admission is free. Vintage base ball (the original spelling of the 1800s), is played by the rules and customs of 1871.
Players were sometimes called ballists. Today’s vintage players wear period reproduction uniforms, either with long trouser and shield shirt, or a later style lace shirt and knickers.
Players recreate the game on both open grass fields and modern baseball diamonds.
